According to the LA Times, Luis Lopez, the principal of Franklin High School for the last five years, will be leaving to transfer to be principal at the one-year arts high school in downtown, Central Los Angeles High School #9. Principal Luis has made an effort over the last few years to improve community relations with the high school by hosting weekly breakfasts with the principal and backing up the community with any issues that might arise with Franklin students. I wish him good luck in his new position and hope his replacement at Franklin will continue with trying to improve the school and its relationship with the community.
